- thraxil 4y agoIf you find this interesting, I'd also recommend checking out Andrei Molotiu's "Abstract Comics: The Anthology" from Fantagraphics. A few of the featured artists use asemic writing in their comics. disclosure: I'm one of the artists in the anthology (though I don't use asemic writing).
- Dr_ReD 4y agoIt can be asemic writing, or it can just be cursive russian: https://www.boredpanda.com/russian-cursive/ https://www.boredpanda.com/russian-cursive/
- subjectsigma 4y agoThis works really well (for me at least) when translated to music. I find that if I listen to music at work with English lyrics, sometimes I end up paying more attention to the music than the work. Listening to good music in a language I don't understand (e.g. Italian opera) allows me to hear the vocals without my brain putting any effort into understanding. In essence, the vocals become just like any other instrument while still being more aesthetically pleasing (in my opinion) than pure instrumental symphony. Of course music in languages that aren't real (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wOJAErCvVhs https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=wOJAErCvVhs) or music with vocalization but no words (https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0tDpoLXD3Js https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=0tDpoLXD3Js) has the same effect, but it's less commom to find that outside video game / fantasy soundtracks.
- mhh__ 4y agoThe description reminds me of the style of writing found in a lot of French/continental philosophy. The ideas might be interesting but a simple concept is usually surrounded by layers of literary detritus usually borrowed from fields the author doesn't understand.
- sieste 4y agoRelated: Mumble Rap, see for example the masterpiece Esskeetit by Lil Pump https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DPxL7dO5XPc https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=DPxL7dO5XPc
- jonah-archive 4y agoA cool example of this is Allison Parrish's book generator project, a system of writing-like imagery produced by a generative adversarial networks that your brain really, really wants to think are real letters: https://github.com/aparrish/word-gan-book-generator https://github.com/aparrish/word-gan-book-generator Aleator Press (specializing in computer-generated books) also recently published a letterpress book of pseudo-poetry from it: https://www.aleator.press/releases/wendit-tnce-inf https://www.aleator.press/releases/wendit-tnce-inf
- derbOac 4y agoInterestingly, it reminds me most of Old English.
