Try building any common OSS from source and you quickly realize there are a few libraries at the core of everything. MPFR being one, GMP, MPC and Zlib being the others that come to mind.
In fact I believe MPFR depends on GMP.
- mananaysiempre 4y agoMPFR does depend on GMP, but the reason it’s everywhere seems to be that GCC uses it—unlike GMP, which is also used for cryptography, underlies many languages’ large integer support, etc.
