We just took part in the "Text Adventure Literacy Jam - 2022" (https://itch.io/jam/talp2022 https://itch.io/jam/talp2022), organised by Adventuron -- an engine for parser-based Interactive Fiction games, which does run in the browser, as well as the compiled games. Seeing some of the games in other frameworks really shows how convenient and polished Adventuron is. And having to install a platform-dependent binary for an IF feels like a throwback, of the bad kind.
