Let me see if I am understanding this: They're saying that the bond market is currently expecting an average annual inflation rate of around 2.25% over the next 15 years. And that if you remove expected inflation from a 15-year mortgage, the rate is around 1.7%. And exactly one year ago, the 15-year mortgage rate was negative if you removed expected inflation from it?
And the takeaway from all of this is that considering actual inflation, mortgages are still a pretty good deal. I think I can nod my head and say "yes", but doesn't this all hinge on house prices not falling?
