I got a personalized postcard with my name and a picture of my home, from my local XXXXXXX insurance agent, telling me I could pay as little as $XXX for homeowner's insurance. Since I already had a policy with him, and just like the postcard said, I was paying hundreds more, I called him and asked if he would lower it. He said "oh, it's a technical glitch, it's only for new customers, and it doesn't take into account your unique situation and home..." So I started getting quotes from other places and in about a day I had a new policy at essentially the same low price he had flaunted. I thanked him for bringing it to my attention and cancelled.
