When I expressed the opinion the other day that patents were stupid, my boss said my position was "radical". I just laughed and said it wasn't in the software industry. "Oh, well, software patents are bad, but...". He's a mechanical engineer by education. I didn't bother bringing up the threatening letter we got from a patent troll a couple months ago :)
