> pivot to become some evil-ish adtech thing to survive? Yeah, we've all been there. Northvolt is different! We will make a difference, we _are_ making a difference Sounds great! If the company wants to make a difference in a not evil-ish way, you could start by improving the working conditions of the 2000 workers building your factory. https://www-breakit-se.translate.goog/artikel/32182/kritiken-mot-northvolts-jattebygge-byggs-av-moderna-slavar?_x_tr_sl=sv&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=wapp https://www-breakit-se.translate.goog/artikel/32182/kritiken... https://arbetet-se.translate.goog/2021/11/03/facken-larmar-om-utnyttjade-arbetare-3-omtalade-turer-kring-batterifabriken-northvolt/?_x_tr_sl=sv&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=wapp https://arbetet-se.translate.goog/2021/11/03/facken-larmar-o... https://www-svd-se.translate.goog/a/MLmoqB/northvolt-bygget-utreds-overfulla-bajamajor?_x_tr_sl=sv&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=wapp https://www-svd-se.translate.goog/a/MLmoqB/northvolt-bygget-... https://www-svd-se.translate.goog/a/Epjxol/northvolt-far-hard-kritik-efter-coronautbrottet?_x_tr_sl=sv&_x_tr_tl=en&_x_tr_hl=en&_x_tr_pto=wapp https://www-svd-se.translate.goog/a/Epjxol/northvolt-far-har...

I don't appreciate the snarky tone, but I guess my somewhat glib original post might have warranted it. At any rate, I do of course agree that the oversight we had with 3rd party construction workers clearly was not good enough. I think unfortunately those types of violations are fairly endemic in construction in general in Sweden, but that's not really an excuse for a company that bills itself as trying to make a positive change in the world. Gotta walk the talk etc. I'm not so close to the construction team myself, but from what I know we have been making serious efforts lately to combat this problem by cutting down on subcontractors and working with the Byggnads union: https://www.byggvarlden.se/northvolt-kapar-i-leverantorsleden/ https://www.byggvarlden.se/northvolt-kapar-i-leverantorslede... https://www.byggnadsarbetaren.se/efter-skandalerna-northvolt-samarbetar-med-byggnads/ https://www.byggnadsarbetaren.se/efter-skandalerna-northvolt... https://www.svt.se/nyheter/lokalt/dalarna/vill-inte-ha-fusk-pa-var-arbetsplats-northvolt-begransar-antalet-underleverantorer-i-borlange https://www.svt.se/nyheter/lokalt/dalarna/vill-inte-ha-fusk-...
