The "benevolent" God flooded entire countries, sent some bad stuff to Egypt, and did many other "horrible" things to random groups of humans. But that's all part of his plan that we cannot comprehend. (Maybe they were not faithful enough, or not from the right chosen People?) So I'm not sure this proves anything.
