It allows those in the ruling class to print money, inflate assets for the plutocracy and their actual constituents, and all at the same time, pretend nothing is wrong by showing highly selective numbers. Meanwhile, the masses suffer and think it is their own fault -- except it isnt, they have been sold out. There is nothing "stupid" about CPI -- it is a strategic decision by people who arent acting in the interests of the whole citizenry.
