Is there any "buy equity in X" in similar form that did not turn out to be a scam or unprofitable? E.g. "cloud mining", "fractional share in high value collectible games" were all nonsense. After all, maybe the ruthless SEC is there for something - even if I don't agree with all that "accredited investor" gatekeeping that prevents competent individuals form getting a tiniest slice of the VC windfall.
