Ask HN: Oracle blocked my account, but I live and work in CZ. Is it just for me?
I am a Russian citizen, but I have a EU blue card and have been living and working in the Czech Republic since last year. I recently found out that my Oracle account has been suspended. I contacted Oracle support (profilehelp_ww at oracle.com) and provided them with my ID and CZ address upon request. However, the account was not unblocked and they stopped responding to my emails.
I'm a Oracle Certified Professional Java developer, but now I can't download my certificate from the Oracle site (certview).
I paid for Oracle training, I paid for the exam and now I can't confirm that I have the certification.
- iefbr14 4y agoI think it is all russian accounts: https://www.theregister.com/2022/03/02/oracle_and_sap_suspend_business/ https://www.theregister.com/2022/03/02/oracle_and_sap_suspen...
- strikeman 4y agoYes, they sent me this: "Dear user, Thank you for your inquiry. Oracle has withdrawn all operations in Russian Federation and Belarus, hence your account has been de-activated. You may refer to https://www.oracle.com/corporate/conflict-in-ukraine/russia/ https://www.oracle.com/corporate/conflict-in-ukraine/russia/. " but when I wrote to them that I live in the Czech Republic, they asked me to send confirmation and then they just disappeared: "Dear user, Please provide any Government address and identity proof."
- iefbr14 4y agoIn that case, get legal advise to try to get your money back.
- strikeman 4y agoHonestly, I would like to get my account back. I am an individual and not a company. But the links are about companies, and not about all citizens of Russia and Belarus. It is not so important to return the money, I work in IT consulting and I need certificates.
