They Didn't Pay the Fee: Firefighters Watch Tennessee Family's House Burn
- h2odragon 4y ago2010. About a decade before that one, my local, rural TN Volunteer Fire Dept was headed by a fellow who thought it wise to go around "collecting" donations with his 3 biggest friends: They'd hang out and remark how quick your place could burn down and what a shame that'd be and how only a few hundred dollars could help them make sure that didn't happen. The his house burned down. Apparently his major indoor grow operation wasn't wired well, the shed caught fire and lit the house. That person doesn't run the Dept. anymore. Now its someone who has a nice house with horse and moved the fire engine to their property and it hasn't left for over a decade as far as a I know. They used to park it out in front for fundraiser days and chilli dinners but i haven't seen it in a couple years now.
- WheelsAtLarge 4y agoIt shouldn't be a situation where the firefighters just watch the place burn down but the owners made the decision not to pay. A compromise should be for the owners to pay a very large fee if the fire department has to put out a fire. Even if they have to show up. It should be large enough so people will prefer to pay the fee. Otherwise it's impossible to have a fire department in the first place. And then everyone's home is at risk of burning down. Ultimately the fire department did what they need to do to keep the fire department available for all.
