It’s Doom Times in Tech
- rogerkirkness 4y agoIt is not doom times in "tech". Technology is the pursuit of more benefit with less resources. It may be doom times in technology categories like crypto that are at the peak of their hype curve and not yet in the plateau of utility. Investors will pull back, but that will just have the effect of repricing the good companies. Bad companies probably shouldn't be funded, and this will result in the work being done to differentiate what that means in 2022. There is so much cash on the sidelines waiting to be put to work, liquidity is not an issue.
- systemvoltage 4y agoPart of the problem is media piling up on doom/gloom stories with zero understanding of the industry. This NYT article is all fluff and no substance. Obligated to link this here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWdd6_ZxX8c https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pWdd6_ZxX8c
- _qzu4 4y agoI think social media tech companies are going to on a long term downward trend. People are sick do adtech and surveillance capitalism. But everything else in tech will bounce back.
- endisneigh 4y agoAre people sick of ads more than they are paying?
- yellowcake0 4y agoI know for me personally YouTube Premium is well worth the $11.99 per month, no way I would ever consider going back.
- nowherebeen 4y agoI don’t think it’s an either or thing. I think social media has saturated. It’s no longer some new and exciting thing. People already know what’s it about. They will slowly cut back on its usage. It won’t go away but it also won’t be like the last 10 years either.
