It does seem common enough to smoke a tobacco cigarette at the same time, or immediately before or after. That said, I make my own (tobacco) cigarettes and I have on a few occasions mixed some cannabis in with it. The tobacco smell overpowers the cannabis smell and nobody around me could tell it wasn't a regular cigarette.
