Something similar was still used in 1980ties. It kept employment history to calculate social benefits and pensions. Communist government had no access to modern electronics and computers. We still used punch cards in 1987.
- ajuc 4y agoCommunist governments had their own mainframes (for example weird 24 bit Odra systems in Poland). They weren't as modern as in the west but certainly didn't used punch cards in late 80s. Of course "normal" people had no access to them.
