Simple but controversial answer: don't use a vacuum cleaner. Depends on how many dogs, children and visitors you have. No need to 3d print parts to fix the first world problems. I do change my shoes at the door. It can be weeks before the dustpan and brush comes out. Or months for the mop. Otherwise, all is good. Cleanliness is maintained.
