My theory is that we tend to use feet for height because that's what our parents used. These days or driving license displays only cm, and rarely hear younger folks use feet (my 15yo looks at me weird when I do). Same for 24h time, but because of mobile phones (Quebec). My main issue for me is fruit and veggies. They're always in lbs because the price seems lower. Although I measure meat in kg because my butcher is a French immigrant and yells at is of we use imperial units.
