I think people should be acclimated to their living environment and not need air conditioning except in the most harsh situations where survival is at stake. It's such an energy waste, the energy crisis first emphasized this to me. In Texas I prefer to go without when by myself. To me it's just for other people's comfort. For decades I've preferred to use a small fraction of the energy that ordinary consumers consider acceptable, and this one thing can really help make the difference too.
