I like this approach. Instead of focusing on a number, focus instead on the exit lifestyle that I can afford at any given time - starting with what I can afford right now. Then draw inspiration from growing my affordability criteria, and apply this inspiration in my daily pursuit of unlocking an increasingly improved lifestyle. Edit: Fear not; tech won't crash. I've been through a couple recessions now. Tech always perseveres after the hiccup.
