If he were a billionaire with mild aspergers that played along and posed for affirming posts about how being different is good (while not actually being different), he could get a ton of mileage out of it. But instead, he actually acts a bit differently (and it pays of money-wise), he gets reviled I've seen this other places. Canada's governor general Julie Payette was a former astronaut and scientist. The government was thrilled to have a female as a prop to show how progressive they were. But she actually thought for herself, was an engineer not a bureaucrat, acted a bit differently (diversely) than the status quo, and was called a bully and forced out. The left (for lack of a better term, I know they're not left wing in a classical political sense) are looking for identity props they can trot out to show how progressive they are. But heaven forbid someone should actually think or act differently, we can't have that, they must be in an out-group that has no place in progressive society
