Broadcom to 'focus on rapid transition to subscriptions' for VMware
- scohesc 4y agoJust what everybody who's in the industry expected - Broadcom isn't a nice company - they've parted out and wrung dry anything they've bought. I won't be surprised if Broadcom starts EOLing the newest versions of ESXi in the next year and a bit and only supporting subscription license modelling going forward.
- smcleod 4y agoYes, Broadcom is an absolute garbage company - as you say - it's not just a large proportion of their products that are problematic, but their corporate culture is toxic. Having said all that VMware doesn't exactly a modern or dynamic company either.
- bradknowles 4y agoSeems to me like this is a good way to piss > $60B away very rapidly, as you quickly drive all VMware customers elsewhere.
