Elden Ring is super fun to not play
- sylware 4y agoCannot run it, I game on NATIVE glibc/linux: dota2, csgo, others. We know that, the real issue of porting a big game to NATIVE glibc/linux is about QA because there are always tons of things which go wrong, even with huge engines pretending to support glibc/linux out-of-the-box. And as game technical "standards", I think the top was set by "horizon forbidden west". And this game runs on the crippled AMD GPU of the PS5.
- azalemeth 4y agoI know you've said native in capital letters, but it does work under proton / wine. There are a couple of "gotchas" – if you're using lutris, make sure you run it from the game's working directory. If you're using steam, use GloriousEggroll's latest version (https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom/releases https://github.com/GloriousEggroll/proton-ge-custom/releases). In both cases, you'll need vkd3d-proton to get the dx12 shaders working (https://github.com/HansKristian-Work/vkd3d-proton https://github.com/HansKristian-Work/vkd3d-proton). I tried the game briefly. It's buggy, with a terrible UI that is obviously built for the X-box, and it's beyond punishing. It's just not my cup of tea at all.
- geoah 4y agoHave spend a bit over 50 hours playing elden ring on the steam deck under proton and the experience has been pretty great so far (the ui sucks but thats os independent). Might be worth taking a look if you can run proton and use the steam deck profiles for controllers etc on your distro.
