The title of the article is seriously misleading, this did not come from CIA, this came from some Business Graduate Student using a licensable forecasting software built by a professor at his University. As I read the first few paragraphs there is some seriously tortured word structure to get you to think the CIA built this model and officially asked Politico for comment. No this actually appears to be a wildly hyped business development for some professors software. I don't know who should feel shame here, from one perspective the Grad Student has kind of succeeded incredibly with this story, but politco seems to have no qualms making tortured phrases for uncouth implication. As an aside I hope this kind of software is used carefully, if you end up with a bunch of milquetoast bureaucrats who think they can successfully run the world with forecasting software using game theory they will fail.
