Talked with a number of teams and employees, they were very candid about what they were working on during every step of the interview. I never saw anything to indicate either of these claims. The safety of encryption/decryption in browser-JS payloads is a different discussion entirely, but you can't make wild claims about it being a front for state-level actors without some reasonable sourcing.
