AlmaLinux 9
- __bliss 4y agoVery nice system. Migrated to AL8 from CentOS8. Only positive impressions
- rubyist5eva 4y agoAlready downloaded and putting it through its paces, looking good so far. Great work!
- erik_seaberg 4y agoFor anyone lost, CentOS has become a rolling RHEL preview, and Alma is a CentOS fork to bring back stable releases.
- rychco 4y agoHow does rocky fit into the picture? What’s different between Rocky and Alma?
- wizee 4y agoIt’s a competitor/alternative to Alma with a slower moving development team.
- aargh_aargh 4y agoWhy would you _not_ join forces on such an effort? Do they have different approaches?
- Tsiklon 4y agoAs per my understanding - They differ in how their organisations are structured. Alma is mostly backed and supported by CloudLinux Inc, for whom, CentOS formed the basis of their commercial software. Rocky is a more grassroots affair - founded by some of the original CentOS founders. I’ve not used either distribution yet, so I cannot comment on how their documentation and community differ.
- ossusermivami 4y agoI have migrated to CentOS streams and it has been a nice and solid experience so far, I think I am getting a bit tired of trying to track the latest clone distro and made peace with the fact that CentOS streams is maybe not exactly the same RHEL but still a stable server distro.
- lsferreira42 4y agoI'm using rocky linux since the last CentOS drama, this seems to be the same, why both teams are not joining efforts to make this even more viable?
- bullfox 4y agoThat was fast. Too early to adopt for me, but the speed is encouraging.
- ZelGray 4y agoI used CentOS 8 as OS on my dev machine and my VDS. After EOL I migrated to AlmaLinux 8. I don't feel any changes by compare with CentOS and it's important for me. I'm planning to migrate to AL 9 when upstream (RHEL) adds the modules to OS.
