I have an ID4 and I've had a great experience with it. The car only thinks you're leaving if your butt is off the seat and the driver side door is open. With the climate controls, there is a 'smart climate' and a 'classic climate' view. The 'smart climate' options aren't as bad as you suggest either. My only real gripes with it are the laggy infotainment system and meh mobile app.
