Ask HN: Database-driven web apps – is the database still a bottleneck?
I've read many times in comments here on HN that the speed of your database is the biggest bottleneck for your server-side web app. Therefore, the speed of your server-side programming language is not important (or less important).
I asked this question in 2019 (3 years ago) and many HN posters said the database was more likely to be a bottleneck than the server-side programming language. Does this still hold true in 2022?
