Uber hits 1B rides in Africa
- atlasunshrugged 4y agoWhile we can denigrate Uber all we want for a money losing biz model, I have to say that it was one of the most useful things in Africa as a tourist. Sure, you could try to find a local driver or use a hotel service but the first is risky, the latter expensive (and not really feasible if you're in an Airbnb). I spent a month in Kenya where Uber/Bolt are available and then 6 weeks in Cameroon and wow the differences were stark, so difficult to get around in Cameroon because of a lack of a reliable Uber-like service
