- banannaise 4y agoCredit scores for people who are responsible and struggling will be much closer to the scores of those who are irresponsible, rather than those who are responsible and not struggling. For the most part, the credit system expects perfection, so if you're out of work for several months and need to keep yourself fed, you're going to earn a black mark that will be a lot of work to counteract. Even if you manage to keep it spotless, credit scores still give a lot of weight to "having access to a lot of credit, and not using it", or "having a mortgage that you've been paying consistently for years", both of which mostly require you to already have good credit to get.
