So what is your proposal? Giving in to Russia? I don't know if you realize this but it would increase the risk of nuclear war, not decrease it because it would show that using nuclear threat is working.
Edit: my gut feeling about the risk is pretty much the same ~ 1/5 to 1/3 change of nuclear war in short long distance from now. Yes, it is bad, but there is not much we can at the moment do to deescalate it.
