I am not sure what he means by maths? Exactly which topics in maths?
- Animats 4y agoHe says that computer science undergraduates should learn mathematics properly. It is maths that make someone a programmer from a coder. That's very Djykstra. Read Djykstra's "A Discipline of Programming" (1976). Programming is hard and programmers should suffer. The trouble is, suffering doesn't scale. Academic computer science was a tiny field before the mid-1980s.
