Why a PhD was not for me
- smitty1e 4y agoIt's OK to go get some life experience. There was a PhD effort some 20+ years ago, right after leaving active duty. But the focus wasn't there. After doing the core course work, everything imploded, including having my advisor die at his desk of a heart attack. Five years ago a certificate program was happening at another school, and it was enticing. Taking courses makes one feel young, somehow. Having done so much earlier, one went in with eyes wide open and a much more measured approach. Just get something accomplished every day. It's marathon, not a sprint.
- pvaldes 4y agoSo basically the same history as yesterday with changed fields, and a slightly different author name. I wonder what's the purpose here. Is the 'product' discouraging people from pursuit a PhD?
