Everyone has unique experiences but growing up, some of the smartest kids I knew with athletes. Not sure if it was because sports can often force you to give your all in all ways (sports and education) or if wanting a better shot at a college team required they be diligent in their studies. The top guy in my school ended up going to GA Tech on a baseball scholarship.
