Ironically, the post contains a useless use of `cat`: cat /dev/sda | pv | cat > /dev/sdb This could be replaced by just: pv < /dev/sda > /dev/sdb Or

Ironically, the post contains a useless use of `cat`:
cat /dev/sda | pv | cat > /dev/sdb
This could be replaced by just:
pv < /dev/sda > /dev/sdb
Or in this case even:
pv /dev/sda > /dev/sdb
- yakubin 4y agoIf you want to write the input file at the beginning and write the command later, then you may use: </dev/sda pv >/dev/sdb
