Destruction (Neutra / Von Sternberg House Being Demolished) (1971)
- webmaven 4y agoA short documentary film of the 1971 demolition of the Richard Neutra-designed home of director Josef von Sternberg and Marlene Dietrich. Built in Northridge, CA in 1935, it was later purchased by Ayn Rand in the 1940s. The unusual one bedroom home was relatively small but had some ostentatious features like three garage bays for cars, (one tall enough to accommodate a Duesenberg), and servants quarters. The film was shot on Super-8 by Andy Moore, then 15, who lived across the street.
