- ceejayoz 4y agoIt doesn’t. Chargemaster rates are meant to be slashed 50-90% when they get to the insurance company. We got a bill for $560 today that $500 worth just… disappeared when insurance said “nah”, because that’s the deal the two of them have. If you don’t have insurance, or they pull the “it’s not covered” you get to fight the hospital yourself.
