- onli 4y agoThe murder of the 43 is special. Have a look at https://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-57498250 https://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-57498250 for the context. In short: They were travelling back from a demonstration. Who is doing this: Looks like here it was police together with local criminals (in Mexico those are often enough not two groups, but one and the same), though the first investigation that concluded a specific version of this is completely unbelievable.
- foogazi 4y agoIt’s one group of 43 students that disappeared and local police & crime gangs are involved The state of Guerrero has been the birthplace of leftist subversive/guerrilla organizations since the 60’s - they never really died out and to this day influence government teacher schools (called normal schools) Some students from these schools will sometimes “kidnap” transit busses to get free rides to other towns localities to ask for school donations, etc Some local drug gangs use students as mules Apparently the local gang caught wind that bus loads of students, some of which might have been aligned with a rival gang, were headed into town The local police stopped the buses, dispersed some students , captured/interrogated others and 43 students were never seen again. Their bodies were most likely incinerated. Federal police botched the investigation, tortured suspects, voiding their testimony. The local army garrison never acted and may have denied students entry when they asked for help 8 years(!) later the “historic truth” might never be known
