If anyone here also has a keyboard of this size, I would be interested to know how you access the tilde key.
I’ve bound mine to Fn-Esc but it feels unsatisfactory as a solution.
- hackernewds 4y agoThe solution is to not use tilde for anything :D
- gorgoiler 4y agoIt’s potentially a fair point. Alas my day to day frequently involves referring to paths relative to my Unix home directory, and creating markdown documents (code review, project documentation, bug reports) that use backtick to indicate code fragments and blocks. I use it all the time but maybe I should become a writer instead? I am feeling the burnout of being a programmer pretty hard.
- disintegrator 4y agoI have a 65% where I map the escape key to tilde and caps lock to escape. It has been a comfortable setup alongside VS Code.
- mandw 4y agoI dont have that kb, you could keep that top left key mapped to tilde and move escape somewhere else. I put escape on the caps lock as its used a lot for vim/emacsevil. Caps lock is used a lot less so could be candidate for adding in to a layer.
- DavidVoid 4y agoI like the way it's done on HHKB layout keyboards: the \ and backspace key switch places and what's normally backspace is split in two so that the top-right key can be used for ~ without requiring any function layer [1]. - robertlutece 4y agohomerow mods with layers. q and p are the furthest my fingers go. The customizability of the software is an equally nice feature.
