New York is unique perhaps in the world in that a huge number of people are living nearby with a completely suburban/typical car-centric American lifestyles, but regularly visit the city. It is a completely alien world to them that they do not understand and treat it like a playground. There is a staggering amount of anti-social behavior being committed constantly by folks in cars with New Jersey license plates, particularly on weekends. Their expectations of what they should be able to do with their cars, how much parking they should have, how much noise they should be able to make, and how quickly they should be able to move through dense pedestrian zones are completely unrealistic. They really should ban non-resident street parking like many nearby municipalities do.
