A lot of those investigations start out assuming the man is at fault. It is just the way society leans. Women are as perfectly capable of violence and anger as men, but often get a pass because they can't (usually) physically get the upper hand on a male without a weapon. They are more than capable of making it up in psychological violence. Humans are good at that regardless of genders and non-genders.
