Yeah it's a sad state. I mean society assumes men are almost always the attacker unless they witness it for themselves. As someone who has some, uh, passionate, girlfriends I can vouch for that. The fact that I'm actually a very calm person in most situations (pretty much unless i'm on fire) would only make them more angry when you don't yell back. And to say just leave the situation until they calm down really put them in even a worse mood. I find when people are yelling, no one is listening.
