I really don't understand and don't like how the UK describes Monkeypox. This is from the UK: "Monkeypox is a rare viral infection that does not spread easily between people. It is usually a mild, self-limiting illness, and most people recover within a few weeks. However, severe illness can occur in some people." Yeah, but so is SARS-CoV-2, and the fatality rate per infection of Monkeypox is far higher overall. This is a high threat level pathogen, it needs to be contained before it mutates into something faster spreading. They really should make it so you can get MVA-BN (Jynneos in the US, Imvanex or something like that in Europe) without the massive effort it takes now. If anyone is serious about stopping pandemics, about now in the spread is the time to do it, not after it's in every country in the world. You come in fast, you come in hard, and you stamp it out.

Or are you mainly referring to the rest of the description?
- Vecr 4y agoI'm referring to the infection fatality rate, Monkeypox is at the very minimum 10 times more fatal per case, probably more like 20 to 30 times. Not taking into account differences in immunity or medical care, of course.
- ipspam 4y agoThe world record so far is a 6 chain transmission among humans. It's very hard to spread. That's why no one is worried. The thing you are missing that no one is saying out loud is that this time it is spreading as an STD, and there is only a finite amount of time between infectiousness and presentation of symptoms. It's not applicable to most people, especially in the west where we have very few daily intimate interactions with the people around us.
