- bookofjoe 4y agoBecause of the huge downside should postoperative bleeding occur necessitating reexploration, there are numerous 5-10 minute "holds" while closing during which NOTHING happens: the neurosurgery resident simply stands there, looking for even the tiniest ooze or bleed and then cauterizing it.
