And so the Objective is usefull. Example: Increase usage - so I look for weekly active users increase by x.
If I now set that as part of my salary target etc is a different question, I am not a fan off. But having a direction and looking ar various is a good solution.
As always if OKR don’t help you, don’t do them.
But still better to try to measure and improve to get a better outcome, than to blindly follow the CEO or other brainfarts…
- wildrhythms 4y agoAs the resident 'fire-put-outer' engineer on my team whose priorities appear and vaporize every week or two, how do I quantify that work into quarterly OKR(s)?
- Jensson 4y agoOKR are about the reason you get paid. The main reason they pay you seems to be to put out fires, so something like "Put out fires before things go bad" should be your OKR. If you did a good job putting out fires you get a high score. So many here say "OKR doesn't match what I really need to do", the answer is then always "then write down what you really need to do/focus on as your OKR". If your manager complains ask him "would you rather I work on this project instead of fixing a fire when a situation happens?", if he says yes then you should stop fixing those fires it isn't your job, if he says no then he should be fine with it being a part of your OKR's.
