Facebook may find it easy to hire shills, but it's can't hire engineers
- bko 4y agoThat article referenced in the tweet is from Oct-2021. Now they're actually freezing hiring engineers. Guess the problem worked itself out. https://www.businessinsider.com/facebook-is-freezing-hiring-heres-why-and-who-it-impacts-2022-5 https://www.businessinsider.com/facebook-is-freezing-hiring-...

- nailer 4y agoThe article is more about lobbying than engineering hires but I can imagine the lack of innovation at Facebook would be overcome by higher than average salaries and steady employment by competent but not A-grade engineers.
- mountainriver 4y agoEh component engineers rarely innovate effectively unless they are paired with stellar product and EMs
- kleinsch 4y agoA 32 tweet thread full of spicy allegations and you submit the one that’s about how they missed hiring targets for senior engs a year ago? FB had a hiring freeze for eng, this story is old news.
- otterley 4y agoPlease, always link to the article instead of a tweet with the link to the article: https://www.protocol.com/workplace/facebook-docs-hiring-recruiting-crisis https://www.protocol.com/workplace/facebook-docs-hiring-recr... (Also, I read the article, and it doesn't even say this.)
