If I want to take a bus I have to walk 30 minutes, pay $10, and then ride on a bus for another hour. It takes three times as long to go the same distance, at three times the price, and runs on fossil fuel. And that is only if I arrive precisely when the bus does. If I have to wait for the bus, tack on another 10-20 minutes. Plus, I like cars. I would own a car just to own a car because I think they are cool.
