You should try a shotgun microphone (ie. Rode NTG2) It is directional, you can get a shock mount for it. You can also get it quite close but slightly off came

You should try a shotgun microphone (ie. Rode NTG2) It is directional, you can get a shock mount for it. You can also get it quite close but slightly off camera pointing at you. I'm not a fan of the microphone in frame, so this was my solution.
