Apple Executive Who Left over Return-to-Office Policy Joins Google AI Unit
- seydor 4y agoIt's kind of weird that Ian Goodfellow is "the Apple Executive Who Left Over Return-to-Office Policy"
- thr0wawayf00 4y agoHe's certainly far from an "average joe", but I think it's important to see stories about workers leaving jobs for greener pastures because these stories aren't often covered in the press. CEO's are interviewed to death over their visions, management styles, etc., but there really isn't an analogue for those in the trenches. Just look at how widely covered "the labor shortage" is. There is no labor shortage, just a shortage of people willing to work for next to nothing. The press is overwhelmingly pro-business in this regard.
- seydor 4y agoexcept he is too far from a typical "worker"
- thr0wawayf00 4y agoThat may be, but the point still stands. This is a story about someone demanding a particular work experience and ultimately walking away after not getting it. That's important no matter how high up the food chain he is.
- hulitu 4y agoThat's they want you to think. I think he just needed a good reason to leave.
- mgh2 4y agoGood riddance, Google has completely diff. values on data privacy - it shows that he was not a good fit anyways https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-05-17/apple-delays-plan-to-have-workers-in-office-three-days-a-week https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2022-05-17/apple-del...
