Chromebooks: Desktops you can trust to be there
- mark_l_watson 4y ago+1 on everything that the article says. As a very long term Linux and macOS laptop user, I now prefer running everything in the cloud: Google Colab for deep learning, several VPSs that I turn on when needed that are configured for specific cases (Common Lisp with Open BLAS, etc for ML, special Clojure setups for interacting with hybrid Python apps, etc.) After using a Chromebook to web browsing for many years, I bought a Lenovo Duet Chromebook last year that makes a good tablet and also with the provided keyboard and pencil, I find it useable with the built-in Linux containers support. I am looking for a more expensive but similar Chromebook that can drive a large external USB-C monitor, then I feel like archiving all my old hardware and just making my life simpler.
