Social psychology isn't a hard science, it's a squishy science. Trying to quantify people's behavior using hard science methods will always be problematic. There are just too many variables to control for. I don't behave the same way from one day to the next, or depending on whether I'm hungry, or got enough sleep, or just fell in love, or had an argument, or got stuck in traffic, or watched a sad movie. Not to mention that each person is unique, and behaves uniquely, in a zillion different ways. All of that makes life interesting, but is scarcely conducive to replicable experimentation.
